| partners | | It has been almost 2 months since we have been hiking (obviously back in Lubbock Texas) so Ginny and I decided to head to Caprock Canyon just south of Amarillo. We started at Lake Theo and headed down Holmes Canyon, No trail but fairly easy walking. Being early Spring the walking along the creek bed is fairly easy, free of brush. The hike along the canyon can be more of a challenge later in the year when the creek bed is clogged with growth. We hiked down stream a little over 5 miles, almost to the Little Red River and then headed back along the Canyon Rim Trail which is actually a two track.
Saw lots of Buffalo and a couple of mule deer. It has been a dry year so the creek wasn't running but there were a couple of springs that had a light flow or maybe I should say a seep. |
