| partners | | It has been a few years since I hiked Pima Canyon but It was time Ginny got to see this magnificent Canyon. It takes a little motivating to do this hike because it is a tough one (and you have to drive through Tucson). The beauty of the canyon more than makes up for it though. My first experience with this canyon was in the early 60's when my father took us up to Table mountain (was too young to remember how hard it was). My next experience was in 1971 when I Took a friend in high school up Finger Rock Canyon and down Pima (that friend never talked to me again). Since then I have made a few trips up the Canyon and table mountain, Never gets easier but still breathtaking. On this trip we thought we would go to Pima Spring and back. Got a late start so we made it just short of the spring to the second dam.
There was a light flow from just prior to the first dam. Quite a few people hiking the lower canyon but after the first dam only a couple. My GPS said 8.8 miles 2519 AEG, Ginny's said 9.3 and 2525 AEG so I split the difference at 9. |
