| no partners | | Mount Nebo (elevation of 11,928 feet and prominence of 5,488 feet) is a peak that I have been wanting to hike, and today I made it happen.
I started and ended at the North Peak TH. The last 0.3 miles to the TH are unpaved, but virtually any vehicle can make the short drive.
The trail is easy to follow -- there are some steep sections while other sections are fairly flat. There is a bit of up and down, which makes the hike inefficient from an AEG standpoint.
About 2 miles in there was one section of the trail that had snow on it for about 100 feet or so. This section was fairly flat, and I did not bother to put my microspikes on.
The trail got really steep heading up to Wolf Pass Peak from the saddle at Wolf Pass. Once at Wolf Pass Peak, there was a lot of class 2 and even some class 3 climbing. To me there was nothing sketchy and there really wasn't any exposure. This section was fun -- in places the trail was evident, but in other places I had to stop and think about what route I would take. There were no cairns or painted dots, which added to the fun.
There were great views at the top, so I hung out at the summit a bit.
I enjoyed this hike, and I wouldn't mind doing it again sometime. |
