I intended to do my usual back door route up to Bell Pass and back, but it was a cloudy morning with a decent breeze blowing, and along the way I could not resist the urge to climb up to Thompson Peak instead. It was quite breezy once I got to the saddle below the peak, and was that way at the summit also. The sun came out over the last couple of miles, but I had done almost all of the elevation gain by then.

It was a nice morning for this hike, but I would not want to do this ascent in the sun on a hot summer morning.
