| no partners | | I decided to hike up the back way to Bell Pass from Fountain Hills, which is a hike that I have done many times. This time I also decided to hike up to Peak 3515, which is SSE of Bell Pass.
It was a great day to be out hiking -- it was a sunny day with temperatures in the upper 50's. It was windy when I got up to Bell Pass, so I added a layer before heading up to Peak 3515. There is a very well defined social trail from Bell Pass up to Peak 3515, so I followed it as I ascended. The social trail made a sharp turn to the right at one point, and I followed it even though it looked like the best way to go was to continue straight uphill. In retrospect, I should have continued straight uphill.
I followed the social trail for a bit, and then decided to head up toward the summit -- doing so was a bit steep, but I made it up to a ridgeline that was northeast of the summit. To get to the summit required a bit of boulder hopping, a section of which was a bit of a knife edge. It wasn't too bad and was kind of fun, although the wind was blowing like crazy. There were nice views at the summit, but with the cold wind blowing I didn't hang around too long.
I enjoyed the hike, and going up to Peak 3515 was a nice twist to the hike! |
