UR The vestibule, inspired by Etruscan tombs, is decorated with panels imitating hangings and decorated with marble medallions. Originally, the place was darker but, on the occasion of the renovation work, zenithal lighting was provided.
Light marble floor tiles, hard stone wall coverings and bas-reliefs inlaid with polished marble discs: its aesthetic echoes the remains of Pompeii and Etruscan tombs.
UL At the foot of the sixteen double cast iron columns which mark the perimeter of the room, a calorifer, a cast iron stove weighing almost a ton, is connected to the heating-air conditioning system.

Lower photos: Oval Room (Salle Ovale) Nicknamed the "Oval Paradise".On its walls, three floors of shelves containing 24,000 books and 8,000 comic books and graphic novels.
Students, researchers, and visitors can now access the Oval Room, free of charge. There is also a new staircase taking you to the fully renovated Mazarin wing on the first floor, where there is a museum and exhibitions. One interesting manuscript on display is Victor Hugo’s “Notre-Dame de Paris”.
