"A luxurious covered passage built in 1823 according to the plans of the architect François-Jean Delannoy, the Galerie Vivienne was listed as a historic monument in 1974. Over 176 metres long and under a zenithal light that illuminates the period mosaic floor, there are boutiques of refined luxury (fashion and decoration boutiques, clothing consignment shops, art galleries, brasseries, restaurant, tea room, wine merchant, antique bookshop, etc.).
Hard to believe that in the ’70s this architectural gem was in danger of being demolished. We have Huguette Spengler, the eccentric surrealist artist, to thank for the preservation and revival of Galerie Vivienne, which was eventually declared a historical monument in 1974.
LR: biggest bottles of wine I've ever seen. Legrand Filles et Fils originally opened in 1880 as a gourmet grocery store, and through the next five generations and 140 years cemented itself as an iconic destination in Paris for gourmet food and fine wine.
Their collection is made up of more than 3000 unique wines.
