I saw a cardinal in a tree long enough to get a photo. I was on the cairned trail at the bottom then is seemed to fade then i found it again and just after it seemed easy to follow i lost it again. I then realized is followed the wash up to the cliff face then along the cliff base to the top. Since it was still early I wanted to see how far I could get down the slot canyon to the north (aka Deering) but eventually ended up above a dry waterfall that I couldn't get down. I climbed up to circle back and saw some color between the rocks and decided to have a look. I found a complete camp set (pans, tent, rope, gloves, smokes, shovel etc,) in dry bags. The large dry bag was brand new. I think at least two people are coming back for a few nights to look for something. On the way down I took a detour to triangle cave and then scrambled down to the trail. On the trip back there was a new sign at the Second Water/ Boulder intersection and strangely even though it was after 3pm there were several people hiking in. |
