| no partners | | I had time to fit one more hike it this year. I decided to go back and do some off trail exploring around Peter's Mesa. I had the Jeep apart so I took the car and had to walk FR 213. I made good time on the road and headed up Peter's trail. There was a lot of water on the trail but only one area where you need to reroute to stay dry. Peter's trail is in ok condition for the first 3 miles and then the fun begins. There are enough agave stalks, prickly pear, cholla, catclaw, ankle twisters (aka rocks) and general overgrowth to keep you entertained for hours. Just when you think the fun will never end you get to Peter's Mesa. I went off trail and hiked up the high side to look around. I didn't find must junk up there but it was new ground and has nice views. On the loop back to the trail I found a hard hat, a coffee mug, pots & pans, old chairs and junk. I didn't see anybody on the trail and then finally saw 3 hikers as I was hiking back on FR213. As I was pulling out I almost ran into Suz in her Q45 but figured I lose on that one so I moved. |
