| no partners | | I made my way to the junction of 119 and 180 where I decided to park and walk the last 2 miles down 119 to the trail head. The road was dry, but it sucks... I really don't mind walking the rest of the way, adds a couple more miles. Dropped down to the find the creek flowing nicely. Hiked upstream a way and found a fantastic campsite next to a huge deep pool with several visible cruising brown trout. Too bad the site was taken. Went back down stream to find a nice spot a little off the trail to set up camp. A quick shelter for this trip. No bugs and not too cold.
Really surprised to find such a well worn trail following the creek south, upstream. It was a great trail. On Saturday I went upstream and talked to a couple of guys camping in the great spot. They said they came down a little trail on the east side of the creek that leads to FR237. I knew the road paralleled the canyon but did not know about the additional access trail. Went a couple miles further upstream fishing, keeping in mind potential camp sites for a future through hike from Willow Springs lake to Telephone ridge. There are lots of great sites and lots of deep blue holes with fish. Got rained on Saturday afternoon a little.
Can't wait to come back and go further up. |
