Arrived early Friday morning but couldn't help but notice the extent of the rainfall from the day before. Pretty wet, how would the final 2 miles be on 119 to the trailhead? Answer: CRAP. Worst ever. Saw folks camped where 180 joins and they said the creek was high and muddy. I would need to drive on in those last 2 miles to see for myself. The road is horrible from this point on, and about half way I called it, when I came upon the longest mud puddle I have ever seen. I just hate to plow through them when you can't see the other side.
Back tracked out and drove south on 180 to just passed the turnoff for 180B (road turns more to the west). Set up camp and explored a side canyon to the south that drained towards Chevelon creek. Got in a couple of miles before the drainage was too cluttered to continue. Heard lots of gunfire, and saw lots of elk tracks. Lots of water here, no surprise. |
