| no partners | | Although I didn't have nearly enough time to get to Horseshoe Mesa tonight, I couldn't wait any longer to get a taste of the Grandview Trail.
Arrived at the parking lot around 5pm, and had to circle once to get a parking spot - felt like I was at Camelback for a minute there! Most people were just there for the view though - not to hike ... past 10 minutes down the trail, I only saw a few more people.
The upper portion of this trail definitely ups the excitement factor from the other two hikes I have done below the rim - I loved it! But I will NOT be doing it in the winter, even with crampons!
Purely by chance, the point I choose to stop took me 32 minutes to reach - the same time as it takes me to get to 1.5 mile resthouse on the BA, but I was probably going slower on the top part, so I am guessing I went a little less than 1.5 miles.
Unlike on the BA, however, I actually made it back up quicker - 31 minutes! That shows that it's my kind of trail.
Looking forward to getting back very soon to go at least to Horseshoe Mesa. |
