| no partners | | I saw my first bighorn sheep on the way down, then on the way back up I saw my 2nd through 9th!
The first one was gathering moisture from a small seep above the trail - I say gathering moisture rather than drinking because I don't think there was any running or pooled water to really drink - it was more like she was using her tongue as a sponge to absorb moisture from the wet ground.
As I sat for a minute by mile-and-a-half resthouse, a deer approached to drink from the puddles that form below the spigot.
As I neared the top, just below the first tunnel, there were at least seven or eight more female and young bighorns grazing below - and on - the trail. Haven't seen a ram yet - still have that to look forward to!
Also saw a young woman on her way down with a paddle in her hand and what I assume was a packraft on her back - alone. That's hardcore! |
