| no partners | | My plans for a 4am wake-up and a long hike today went out the window when I was awakened around 1:30am by a violent thunderstorm and heavy downpour, which lasted most of the night.
By late morning, the storm was over and it was just sprinkling rain, so I decided to get a hike in before I finish painting my bedroom...
Hit the BA at 11am, and the trail was busy today. It was nice to see the water streaks coming down the cliff faces and small waterfalls and streams flowing ... sometimes down the middle of the trail.
Made it to 1.5 mile resthouse in the usual 33 minutes ... ate some fruit snacks, filled my bottle, and set out to reach 3 mile resthouse for the first time.
It took me 26 minutes from 1.5 to 3 mile mark. By then the sun was coming out and it was starting to feel warm and humid. Ate a Clif bar and downed 16oz of Nuun water, and rested a bit.
45 minutes back up to 1.5 mile ... another fruit snack and Nuun ... then 48 minutes to the top.
Some moist fragrant plant along the way was exuding an odor that smelled to me like cilantro and lime ... immediately made me hungry for mexican food ... thank goodness we have a Plaza Bonita in Tusayan now! |
