| partners | | Recently I did AZT #9 with Uphill Junkie and in the process we took a wrong turn shortly after Manning Camp. We did make a loop and got back on track with a few added miles but I missed a 1.1 mile section of the AZT that is just north of Italian Spring. Anyway I needed to go back and get that covered and while hiking AZT 11 and 12 with Joe he mentioned he would be interested in going along. I have to say the man knows his hikes! The trip from Reddington Road up to Manning Camp is just a great hike no matter how you slice it up.
When I was coming down it with Amy on the prior trip it was hard to appreciate the surrounding views and the overall beauty because we were in the middle of a rain storm.
Today Joe and I made it up to Manning with no issues and had a brief chat with the Park Ranger. Then it was a smooth trip down the hill and off to Circle K for some sodas. (darn slurpee machine was out of order). From there we ended up at a Mexican Buffet for lunch and both ate enough for a small army. Not the best idea but it was yummy.
Overall, it was a great day and another great hike!
Now I only have the Sunflower section and part of the Peeley section to finish up the AZT. Hopefully they will re-open that part of the trail in a couple weeks. |
