in the month of August and this one was sassy. I wonder if this one is the same as the one I saw on Marcus Landslide (would be in range for a single desert tortoise). This tortoise was on the trail chewing leaves and he/she stopped moving when he saw me - then waited a bit and then proceeded to walk right past me and almost over my foot and then walked BETWEEN my husband's legs. We just stood there in shock. He trucked on down the trail and then down an arroyo. Unbelievable. I think it has to be all the water and rain this monsoon season or some alignment of the stars bringing out all these tortoises!
, but still had a great date hike night.
