A nice backpack dusting off weekend to loosen up the shoulders was in store. I also decided to take as many photos of random campsites as I could along the way on Dutchman's, Bull Pass, Cavalry, Boulder Canyon, and Second Water. There are plenty more to be sure. As expected there was flowing water in every drainage. The hike out to Cavalry was a breeze, including the short but quality workout of Bull Pass. Hung a left on Cavalry and went down maybe another mile to select a campsite on left of creek. Lots of water in La Barge all the way through. This was a really nice campsite, and there were 3 or 4 others close by in this area. Great views of mountains on 3 sides. Only saw 1 group of hikers on Saturday after I turned off on Cavalry.
Cool night, but not cold. Great morning and nice brisk hike over to Boulder Canyon. Even more water here than La Barge, and those beautiful deep pools!!! Had a short but quality nap under a shade tree at the large complex of campsites near the BC & 2nd Water junction. Saw plenty of day hikers from here on. |
