| no partners | | I hadn't done much trail walking, distance, or Superstition touring for a while so I figured this one has it all.
Walked the linked trails in the description counter-clockwise. About 8mi on the Dutchman was nice; most noteworthy was the blooming sage and the resulting buzzing insect party. A rattlesnake gave me a courtesy startle as I passed a few feet away.
Entering Marsh Valley the Cavalry Trail gets more overgrown and prickly. There will be blood.
The Boulder Canyon Trail was its usual self - lots of crossovers, easy to lose, and you do just as well boulder hopping down the middle.
The Second Water Trail was a welcome change, though I felt pretty tired on the uphill.
I saw few people away from the trailhead...a pair of backpackers in Boulder Canyon heading for the "Spanish Petroglyphs" and a bunch of Boy Scouts camped on the near side Of Indian Garden. |
