A few weeks ago I did the Superstition Ridgeline. This is like doing the baseline. Just some little ups and downs south of the base of the mountain. Grace was nice enough to give me a ride from the Broadway trailhead over to the east trailhead of Peralta road. That way I could just hike back to my car. I hit the trail around 6:30am. The temps were great. The first half of this trail has a great variety of vegetation and a lot of it. Brittlebush, Cresote, Jojoba, Palo Verde, Mesquite, and a nice variety of Cacti. Along with rolling hills and great views of the Ridgeline it was enjoyable. I didn't start seeing people until I got within a mile of the intersection with the Hieroglyphics Trail. I was wondering if the trail would be hard to follow from here but it was not. You have to walk the road for a half mile or so but it has a few carsonite trail signs to let you know your going the right way. Going west your turnoff is not to far after the road turns to dirt. The infamous rock at the trailhead now has a Goldmine Trail sign on it. I saw one lady here looking for a cache and no one else on this half until I hit Jacob's Trail. This section has a lot less trees and cacti. It does have plenty of Cresote and Jojoba.
I would say the trail is marked pretty well so you don't get off on any connector trails. The east half is better in my opinion. This trail gets a bad rap sometimes. I think it is because it's used to get back from a longer hike and people just want to be done. Nice morning hike with good temps and views.
