Entered the canyon a mile southeast of Jackson’s Butte where the canyon walls really begin to form and steepen.
Cool lava rock type of boulders down here similar to Sycamore Canyon, Munds Canyon and some other Northern Arizona gulches.
Water everywhere, not really flowing but a combination of large pools and marshy areas made for no shortage of H2O.
I was going to hike down further and make a loop with a side canyon downstream but my pack became extremely heavy after what I found in the flood debris so I made it an out and back for the most part with a little detouring.
Overall a really nice canyon with surprising solitude that I may find myself going back to in the spring/winter or maybe even sooner. |
