| no partners | | I have lived in Tucson for about 60 years and have never been to Chiricahua National Monument. Better late then never I guess. On My way back from Texas and New Mexico I stopped in Wilcox for the night and would hike the monument in the morning. I had 20 miles of hikes planned to hike most of the trails in the park. I only got 12 miles done because I took too much time gawking at all the scenery. Oh well this will give me reason to come back.
The trails are in excellent condition, the weather was perfect (no wind) and only a few people and most were in the parking area. I believe I saw 3 on the trails. The only trails I didn't get to were the lower Rhyolite Canyon Trail, Sugar loaf Trail and Natural Bridge Trail. This is one of those places that I will have to come back to when the weather is different, Monsoon, snow, very early morning or evening. The photo opportunities are endless. My favorite trails were Echo Canyon Trail and Heart of Rocks Trail, I could of spent a lot more time on those sections. |
