Day2 up Holbrook way, I got an early start in an area I really like.

It's nice open desert with two levels: the upper one not yet eroded away, but segmented by shallow (~100' or so) rocky canyons. It makes a sort of loose maze with scribable (a real word, I looked it up) boulders along the bottom edges. There must be 20+ miles of edge and the plan for the day was to look at some I missed on previous visits.

I ended up finding several "new" petroglyphs and also passed a couple I'd seen before. My route took me close enough to the stone axe head I found a few weeks ago that I detoured to check if it was still there. It was, and I don't know when or if the local authorities will pick it up.
