Only one other car in lot at 6am, met the hiker about five minutes on the trail, then it was peaceful all the way to the pools and up to the Rock. Probably started fifteen minutes too early, trying to find the trail up to the Rock was difficult in the dark, then as things began to lighten things fell in place. Noticed the hiker was following me so I paused for a break and had a chat with him, wanted to make sure he knew I was taking a pretty roundabout way to the ridgeline (his destination), then continued up. Trail was well-cairned and well-traveled, only wandered off it once or twice, and that was more due to gawking at the views than the route. Only truly confusing part is the last few hundred yards below the peak which, at that point, meh. Signed the log and began the long roll downhill. Bumped into six or so groups before the pools, most of them heading to the summit, though at least two distinctly under-prepared hikers were 'Looking for a waterfall', which... okay. Below the pools the trail was incredibly congested and I spent much of the last 1.5 miles trail-running to keep moving. Parking lot was overflowing.
Fitness wise, this hike felt perfect. Only whined once below the summit. Can probably shave a good 30 minutes off with better route-tracking. |

Pools to trickle |
| | Canyon was flowing much of the entire way from the upper all the way down to the pools. Lovely trickles, plenty of pools. | | _____________________
