Right off the bat it's a climb around Pinyon Mountain. The trail levels out for a short period then a steep decent into Tule Canyon into the pines. This entire area was in the burn area, however most of the pines were spared. Had a nice lunch under the shade of the pines and the wife was ready to turnaround so we made the steep climb back up the ridge and back down to the TH. Scared a couple of doe's up the side of Pinyon Mountain on the way back. The trail was wet and muddy in a number of spots especially on top of the ridge. Grass and some flowers are making a comeback in the area but really nothing else so far. The views on top of the ridge are absolutely beautiful and well worth the climb. |
