| partners | | Denny and I decided to take advantage of the reasonable temps and get a hike in out of town. Only a 90 minute drive from the carpool lot to Kings Canyon trailhead. We headed up Kings Canyon, then up Hugh Norris. Quiet, and nice to see some desert vegetation that is actually green.
Breezy along the spur to the summit of Wasson. I was almost cold for a moment, then remembered that was just my personality. Quick stop at the summit, then west down Hugh Norris to Sendero Esperanza. South on that to Gould Mine, then took that back to the trailhead.
Perfect temps for early Sept, although the last half mile was starting to get warm without the breeze. I think we saw 9 other hikers on the loop. No wildlife besides a few birds and lizards. Got back to Phoenix by 11:30. My kids would like this loop, so I’ll have to keep it in mind when the weather cools a little more. As always, great to hike with Denny! |
