| no partners | | Decided it was a good day for a bushwhacking trip .Leaving home noticed a light dusting of snow on the Superstition ridgeline , low dark clouds and wind made for a chilly 46° at the trailhead in the State Park. Surprised at the large number of vehicles there for a weekday. Followed Discovery trail to the start of Siphon Draw trail then turned west on Jacob’s Crosscut, experienced a couple of brief graupel drizzles along the way, saw no one else after turning onto Jacob’s until I later returned to Siphon Draw Trail. Left Jacobs trail at a large boulder abreast of the east side of Spirit Canyon and went from Boulder to Boulder along an intermittently cairned route. Definitely vegetation along the way , only puddles of water no flow in the canyon, made it to the petroglyphs and around the dry waterfall and called it a day. Took a different route back that initially looked promising but then disappeared ended up coming out on Jacob’s Trail about . 5 miles west of where I first left it. Would like to go to 3845 next trip up here, enjoyed the different views and solitude, especially compared to Siphon Draw, disappointed in seeing no wildlife. |
