This was the first hike my son Tyler and I had taken since he came down with valley fever in the spring. We arrived at the trailhead at 7 pm and walked the road past the gate to the official trailhead.

The moon was pretty special and I only used my headlamp intermittently. We walked just about a half mile in on the official trail until Tyler admitted to being pretty uncomfortable hiking at night. We turned around and made pretty good time back to the car.

There were 5 other vehicles parked at the gate. No ghosts or ghouls were spotted. Temps were in the mid 60's. Altogether a really beautiful night with my best friend.
