Apparently, today, besides being pretty crowded, it was "no leash" day for the most part. I don't worry about the people but the other dogs; especially when there are so many like today.
Anyway, it was a slightly breezy morning and got more breezy toward the finish. On the way up the first hill I noticed a big piece of quartz down in a gully; that would kind of be the unintentional theme for the day: quartz. From here to hook up with Ruth Hamilton, the trail is unnamed... near as I can tell. It was heavily traveled today.
Still sad to not have a house to look at from Ruth's corner; I saw a sign that said the 3 acres sale is pending. Interesting hazy view to downtown Phoenix. On the way to the west side of the loop, there was a big group of folks up the hill to my left (south). I heard speechifying and clapping. Made me think Joe should have a HAZ day where we could all meet up like that. I can only imagine what the speechifying would be .
I headed down the hill and over toward the VOAZ shoe still encountering others including two I had seen on the east side of the Loop. After exiting the shoe I took the same trail I took up to it the last time I was out here. The rest of the hike went well except I find myself getting sleepy; I have to remember to bring some sports beans.
As I was curious, I took the trail that said to 40th St, it keeps you pretty close to the houses. I had another Huckleberry Lager (I still have 15 left and a six-pack at cousin Connie's ).

For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled. |
