|yay, a real hike. Temp was great but I was disappointed that Alexa said humidity in the low 40s. Oh well.|
Last nite I reviewed the route on satellite as I always seem to miss the turn to line up with 8B. I happen to notice that the house that used to be at Ruth's corner is missing. Anyway, the route I ended up using was not quite what I saw on the map but the route I took was correct and in fact, some of it was new to me.
I parked at 38th St TH and headed out with decent temps. I hooked up to the 100 vs a little different route than normal and that's probably why I always overshoot the trail to 8B. I like this route much better too as it's a little easier to get across the wash.
I eventually cross over one of the trails that you use to get up into the 304 area and started on some new trail AND it was shaded so that was pleasant. I gave thot to reversing the route out of curiosity but opted to go down into the wash and hook up with Ruth 8B. I forgot that the route crosses the wash a couple times before it heads up the hill.
At the saddle I headed east on Ruth 8B. I did notice on the map last nite that there is TH parking at the bottom of 8A on the south side. It might be fun, just for a change, to hike up 8A from there (Quartz Ridge TH). As I got closer to the house lot I could see part of the wall was missing and there sure wasn't any house to be seen. I did some Rx when I got home about the house and have included it on a couple of the pictures.
That Yates 8 coming north off the saddle is so rough. I'm glad when I finally get to the flat land. I passed by this one gal that was dressed like she was by the pool, not a good look. There now seemed to be a bit of a breeze but I was glad to get back to Tonto 3. I like this loop except for that rough downhill which is annoying. I saw about a dozen hikers and about as many lizards. Probably saw 1/2 dozen bike riders too.
WATCH: I forgot to turn it on but it buzzed me to let me know I'd been walking so I stopped it and then restarted just a bit past the junction with the 100.

|For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination. |
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
