| no partners | | A sunset rehab hike to help get Mrs. SloFolks off of the pavement and back onto trails. This short and scenic trail close to home was perfect. The Louis W. Menk Trail is located within the P.A. Seitts Preserve and can be accessed from a number of directions and trails. We started at the Seitts TH and went north less than 1/2 mile where the Menk and Slate Trail intersect.
There is a short climb up to a scenic overlook where the 360 degree views are beautiful. The downhill helped Cathy use some muscles that have been dormant for a while but there were no slips or falls which was good. Evening hikes are actually better up here than early morning in our opinion. The humidity is lower and there seems to be a good breeze that is absent in the pre-dawn hours.
The desert looks pretty nice but the drought has taken it's toll on the shrub bursage and the barrel cacti. |
