| no partners | | Since I had spent 4 hours in this sauna earlier today playing golf, I decided to do a little hiking and sweat some more pounds off. Cathy and I have been watching Spur Cross get dumped on all week so we went over to see how the creek and flora were doing.
It has been a while since we hiked up here at sunset. It's really nice except for all the gnats and flies. Have you ever seen those odd slap fights on ESPN? That was us except we were slapping ourselves. We had to have looked hilarious from a distance. Note to self, next time bring bug spray.
We stayed mainly on the "tourist" trails, but even those were all washed out from the rain and in much need of maintenence. The Metate and Towhee trails were very muddy and we grew a couple of inches with all the buildup on our shoes. There was good flow in the creek and we were able to get cleaned up.
We stopped by a couple of petroglyph sites along the way back to the car. I sure look forward to the cooler weather so we can get back in the hills north of Spur Cross and into the Tonto NF. It's just too darn hot still. |
