| no partners | | DAY SIX 7-30-2022 was grocery/birthday day so we headed to Great Falls where We had a birthday lunch for Connie's daughter who had flown in from Hawaii to drive a combine for her cousin Dallas (Connie's brother). We met up at the Sip n Dip Lounge at O'Haire Manor, known for the swimming mermaid you can watch from the bar.
Also,I had to get a new phone because my phone had split due to an expanding battery. On our drive back to the ranch we got to pass by a long railroad train with views south to the Highwood Mountains that seemed as long as the train.
DAY SEVEN 7-31-2022 started out with me helping with harvest transportation so we went back to my old homeplace to check on equipment. I ended up driving back and cousin Brian later told me he was alarmed at the speed I drove those dirt roads  . I told him he just needed to tell me to slow down as I thot he wanted me to rush. Hopefully he learned his lesson  . I thot I was driving just fine. Well the Beach Boys concert was in town so everyone went to Great Falls. I got put in charge of dog sitting.
And now for my FINAL HIKE around my cousin's place. This time I headed east up the other hill past the junkyard and horse pasture (got a couple pics) before heading southwest by where the airplane hangar was being rebuilt (a windstorm came through last summer and mutilated it). I followed dirt road tracks where I saw my cousin Jaelyn's footsteps from her morning run. As I got closer to the machinery gate I saw a deer and per usual, it did the "stop, look, run a little, stop, look, should I get closer, nope I'm gonna trot on by". I got some movies and pictures of the whole ordeal. As I got to the reservoir I could see there was A LOT of bird activity with geese, ducks, pelicans and cormorants. I still wasn't skilled at using the new 10x on the phone but I managed to get some movies and pictures.
This time as I walked to the grain elevator I saw cousin Dallas unloading his semi. We visited for a bit while the wheat was going down the hatch and up the leg. Last year this is where I saw him as well, ha! However, this year, a couple days ago, we did go over and visit at his farm where his significant other pawned off two bottles from his Wine of the Month Club (one red, one white)  which I was happy to take. I walked a little past the elevator before heading back to the trailer and checking on the dog. I stopped at the Romain Reservoir to observe the bird activity for one last time before heading back home.

Tomorrow I would bid adieu to the ranch and head back to Glacier National Park to hook up with some glacier chatters for a little hiking. Lucky me. |
