| partners | | linda suggested we do another hike in the supes today
we had talked about weaver's needle loop, but decided to modify the route a bit
got to peralta around 0800, just as it quit raining
we started with all of peralta trail, then dutchman and part of terrapin
i had never been on weaver's crosscut, so cut west from terrapin
thought this entire area was very scenic
the east end is very well defined and clear
the west is a little harder to follow and more overgrown with some catclaw
great views up close of weaver's needle and other cool rock formations
back up to fremont saddle on peralta, then we took the cave trail to finish
i hadn't been on most of these trails in five years so it was nice to hike them again
there was water flowing in every drainage and sometimes on the trails
a few challenging creek crossings
we saw a couple of waterfalls in peralta canyon
weather was perfect: cool temps, very little breeze
we saw maybe a half dozen people all day except for right at fremont saddle
good mileage and elevation gain on the loop
thanks linda, really enjoyed this one |
