Recent maintenance on the lower trails was evident, even the first mile or so on Kellner, however those conditions faded the higher we climbed. At about the 2 mile point on Kellner we encountered snow, some spots I’d estimate 18” or so across the trail and with a drop on one side and a wall on the other, we just had to plow through. Made it to the spring/camp site and decided that was a good place to turn around. Lots of water running at all the drainage’s.
Hiked up Ice House, about a half mile past the Telephone junction to check out conditions since we were in the area. Lots of deadfall encountered and no recent maintenance was observed. Nice flow of water down the canyon creek.
Didn’t see anyone all day. No other vehicles at the TH when we started or when we returned. |
