Unfortunately the broken edge along the wash, the place where I'd expect to find petroglyphs, consisted of light colored rocks and I saw nothing of interest. Since it became clear that my plan to spend hours walking there would be a waste of time I needed a plan B.
Best I could do was head over to a nice petroglyph site I'd been to before, so I did. Enjoyed a visit and took a few pictures and then took a leisurely scenic drive home through Flagstaff and beyond. Mormon lake was huge! Some rain and 48deg at 11AM was appreciated with summer coming on.
added note: These two days north included some high grass walking and I got some itchy bites at sock line on both ankles. HAZ deep search shows some ambivalence about AZ chiggers (real thing or not). Anybody else experience this? |
