| partners | | Day 2 in the Winslow area. I had an old plan to look in this area but was stymied by an unexpected road closure a couple years ago. Today we figured we'd just walk the road.
We soon realized that we were walking along a closed section of the old Route 66. This was sort of neat, noticing how narrow the road and wash-crossing bridge was, and that bygone billboards were painted on the rocks next to the petroglyphs.
We found some petroglyphs too, as well as a ruin where I was surprised to see some significant (apparently recent) digging. On the way back I stumbled onto a black rock that I think was an ancient knife. Windy again but a fun day.
