john and i decided to finish our rock crossing collection
got going earlier saturday, around 0615
this time we drove to the trailhead
retraced our steps on 18a & 18b
just before heading up 18c, john spotted a herd of about 30 elk in the drainage
cool to see them run straight up the side of the canyon
nice to see these trails in the daylight
explored a bit
we went past the end of 18c, might be fun to take telephone ridge to the cabin loop sometime
looked for the old trail cut on @chumley's gps route
took a side trail coming off 18c that offered good views of the canyon
back at the dry north branch of the reservoir, we walked east a bit
a few pools but that was it
the only person we saw on any of our four hikes was a guy with fishing gear coming down 18a
not sure how far he would have to walk to find water
this is an interesting area, glad we went back
