| partners | | Kelly suggested some Goldfields trails and I was game. Got started at 0530, which was just light enough. West on Willow Connector, then north on Frankie Goes to
Hollywood. South for a short distance in Cottonwood Wash, then west on Horse with no Name. I like several sections along that trail. Saw one tiny rattler curled up on the trail. We both jumped past it as there was no other detour available.
The far west part of Horse with no Name had a ton of foxtails. We made several stops to clear the worst of them out of our socks. Saw a large gopher snake, then what I think was a patchnose? Or something similar looking. I was glad Kelly was in the lead.
Once back in Cottonwood Wash, we headed south, then up towards Anniversary Arch. After that, we finished up in Rough N Ready Canyon.
We spotted some other trails for future loop possibilities. Will have to pull together some reasonable tracks. We were a bit concerned about the weather, but a good breeze and high clouds kept things reasonable. Saw zero other people, it was hard to believe we were hiking so close to civilization. Fun hike! |

Wildflowers Observation Isolated Saw a few flowers here and there, but wildflower season is done in the Goldfields. Kelly destroyed the last remaining poppy. |
