After the hike, we drove from El Coto (about ten minutes) over to Pola de Somiedo for Happy Hour (a post-hike "caña" in the heart of the park). I really liked the Estrella Galicia beers. Founded in 1906, it has grown from a regional favorite to a global name, known for its distinct hop character and traditional brewing methods. It uses Nugget and Perle hops, which give it a refreshing, slightly floral aroma and a clean, dry finish.
The Brewing Process
Unlike many mass-produced beers, Estrella Galicia follows a longer maturation process.
Water: The brewery uses soft water from the A Coruña area, which is essential for achieving its specific crispness.
No Additives: They pride themselves on using only natural ingredients (water, barley malt, maize, and hops).
