Asturcón ponies, a legendary ancient breed native to the mountains of Asturias. I WANT ONE! The Asturcón is one of the oldest horse breeds in the world, with roots tracing back to the Roman era. Roman chroniclers actually praised these "Asturian ponies" for their unique, smooth gait (known as the ambladura) and their incredible stamina in rugged terrain.
Asturiana de los Valles** is a hardy, autochthonous beef cattle breed native to the valleys of the Cantabrian Mountains in northern Spain. SADLY, we didn't get to eat any of this prime beef. Many of these cattle carry a specific genetic mutation for **hypertrophy** (double-muscling).
* **The Benefit:** It produces incredibly lean, tender meat with a high yield.
