The area around Peña Furada (also known as Peña el Castiellu) is one of the most geologically diverse sections of Somiedo Natural Park. Looking from the PR-AS 11, you are seeing the convergence of several major massifs and glacial valleys.
While Peña Furada (1,416m) dominates the foreground with its sharp, "shark-tooth" profile, the mountains rising directly behind it are part of the high-altitude glacial heart of the park.
