The mountains have such personality in this Park and it seems you can climb them all if you are so inclined.
The mountains visible are part of the central Cantabrian range, specifically the ridges that flank the **Somiedo Valley**. Picos: on the left - Left is Camposas and Penouta, Center is La Gata and Mocoso (the baldy one), La Granda.
The steep, V-to-U-shaped descent you see below the peaks was carved by ancient glaciers. In the middle distance are the **beech forests** (*hayedos*) beginning their fall transition. These forests are dense and provide critical shelter for the local brown bear population.
