a quick partial group photo. We had a pretty good group I think. There were 19 of us total, but not everyone did this hike. We are about 15-20 minutes from El Coto.

Sierra de la Serrantina are the limestone cliffs behind them. Geological Formation
The range is primarily composed of Mountain Limestone (Caliza de Montaña).
The "Vertical" Look: The sharp, blade-like peaks are the result of intense geological folding. Ancient layers of the seabed were pushed nearly vertical and then sculpted by water and ice, creating the deep vertical gullies and sharp crests you photographed.
Karst Topography: The rock is highly porous. Rainwater doesn't stay on the surface but sinks into cracks, creating hidden caves and underground galleries. This is why the summits look so "bone-white" and bare compared to the lush forests below.
