In the Holmes Manuscript it says it's a few hundred yards before the confluence of east and west boulder creek on the east boulder side. I still couldn't find anything but a it was a good reason to take a hike. There wasn't too much fauna around but I did see a few cottontails. On the return trip I took the spur trail. As I was looking around a guy up on the Dutchman trail asked if i was looking for the trail. I told him I was on a spur trail. He kinda shook his head and hiked on. So just shortly after that I saw a diamondback. It wasn't very big but had a lot of rattles so it has lived a while. The sun was behind some clouds on the return so it was a nice easy stroll back to the trailhead. On the drive out on First Water road I noticed a large number of turkey vultures flying around. I saw one perched in a tree and knew what that meant so I pulled over and walked 50 off road and about 6 more fly turkey vultures off from the wash. There was a dead dog they were feeding on. I'd say it was a Pitbull from the size and shape of the head. |
