We found a spot in the right area that was carved out but nothing spectacular. We decided to search the hills for a cave or whatever else we may find. After some brush surfing and coming up empty I think Denny was losing faith. I saw cut out under a boulder and decided to give it a closer look. Once there I noticed a pile of cut logs and then some cans, a jar, a small wall and a spud for digging. Yep, somebody was mining here some years back. We took a loop back and checked out some more holes with no luck. We spotted a summit to conquer in the future and hiked back to the trailhead. On the way home we stopped at the Superstition Mountain Museum for the Art Show. The walk through the museum was free today so we got went through looked at the remnants of history. Good deal. |
