I was too lazy to hike in the morning so I decided to try an evening hike. I started at 5:40p and the sun was low so parts of the trail were shaded. I saw a small diamondback and a ring-necked snake on the way in. I hiked into boulder canyon to look at an alcove that wasn't much and hurried back to beat the darkness. The return trip was nice and cool with no gnats.
