| no partners | | Decided to spend a nice afternoon on South Mountain.
Cool Clouds that were around in the Morning were gone by afternoon and replaced with brown Haze.
Went over to the Dark Side to try out a couple of Trails I haven't done.
Didn't take a turn right out of the Gate and did a more Southernly Roller Coaster Route, staying in the flats a little longer than I wanted. But took the correct turns the rest of the way and got to where I needed to be anyway.
Nothing is marked over there, except a few areas of Desert Classic. Without a Topo Map, it can be a real guessing game. Sure am glad I always bring one.
A real Huffer going up. Steep in places and lots of loose Rock....
Not sure if it was Dust or something else, but once I topped out on East, my sinuses were annoyed and I started sneezing. I'm still sneezing....
Took a tiny detour at the highest point on East and went just a smidgeon farther and up and found a great Rock Outcrop to take a nice break, eat a snack, and sneeze some more.
Descended down to National and hit the Buena Vista Lookout. Debated about going further on National and doing the Radio Tower Summit, but took a look at the Hour and decided that I would end up descending most of the Corona De Loma Trail in the dark if I did, so will do that another day.
Made really good time going down Corona De Loma from Buena Vista to Escape, arriving right at dark....
Didn't see too many critters today. A few birds, a few lizards and a Cottontail.
Nice Workout. This Hike probably has some awesome views when the Air is clean.
I'm really enjoying finding these nice little Valleys within the Range. Nice one on Geronimo and a nice one coming down Corona De Loma. Not the Playgrounds of Hidden Valley, but secluded just the same.
It was a good day! |
