| no partners | | I zeroed on two separate locations that I'd whiffed on before. The first was a petroglyph site near Ragged Top....it was satisfying to find it. The ability to view the petroglyphs with the scenic mountain as a backdrop is a nice bonus and I have to believe this influenced the ancient artists.
I then drove a few miles further to look for a habitation site. It's large (hundreds of rooms) and sprawls along a wide swath of hill side. It's mainly rubble, not much of it recognizable as former walls. Some pottery pieces (not all that much) and I only saw one faint petroglyph in my diagonal cut across the ruins area. After the fact I noticed this is the same site posted by aladdinsane http://hikearizona.com/photoset=24143 and he found more petroglyphs (he always does). I continued to the top of the steep hill and found several other ruin sites there. I may visit again on a cooler day... |
