| no partners | | This was either my first hike as, "a local", or my last hike as, "a tourist". Either way, it was hot! Started at 0920, took lots of breaks and made the summit by 1320, an hour on top, and then back to my car by 1700. In the lower switchbacks of the canyon, my pocket thermometer read a high of 107.4. Not bad, but hot! Took 5 liters of water, should have brought 6. Met a guy on the summit who was overnighting and doing the traverse to Pima Canyon. Not a bad way to hike it. Birds are less noticeable, but insects are taking over in the sounds department.
In the past; Flagstaff, Kayenta, and Alamogordo, there ended up being the tradition where the first hike I did before I moved there and then after I arrived, it ended up being the hike I did the most when I lived in that location. I wonder, will this hike continue that tradition? Perhaps, by virtue of the variety in Tucson, I may do it more than the other hikes, but it won't be done dozens or hundreds of times. |

Dry |
| | I thought I saw water flowing over a rock, while hundreds of feet above it, but I think it was algae stain on the white granite. Bone dry, as is to be expected this time of year after a dry winter. | | _____________________
