| no partners | | I wanted to do one last pre-monsoon hike on Mount Lemmon, since June to early July is typically one of the nicest times of year up high. I was sick from a nasty reaction to an MMR vaccine for the last 3 weeks and was really not able to get up here and do much hiking, but I am finally feeling better. I chose this "easy" loop after Wrightson the day before and thought it would be a nice hike. It proved harder than I thought, and it was actually hot for most of the hike below 8000' to 8500'. My legs were tired from the previous day, and going up was difficult. 3 weeks of inactivity does that.
Nice temps and bird calls in the upper section of the WOR made that one of the nicer parts, despite just wanting to be done. However, once up on the last stretches of the Aspen trail in cool temps, it was nice again. This was despite it being after sunset. I caught views of a few bolts of lightning well south of Tucson. I thought they may have been around the Santa Ritas, but the radar made me think it was in Mexico. Sure is dry up there, with the creek having no flowing water in it, and a lot of growth stagnating. Rain will be welcome. |
